GIRL THE ENIGMA
There's the girl that in the street of city
Frankfurt on the Main lies round-the-clock.
The sculptor who had carved her with his chisel
Must have done it just to make a mock.
She lies bare-assed, and in the air
Waves her stone legs to warm herself at nights.
He who'd carved her never ever cared
For her stone-cold body's human rights.
As a log she lies and must be dreaming
Of someone who'd make her limbs alive,
She lies naked and has no feeling
In her legs. She's dead for passers-by.
She deserves a rock-like, solid macho,
There isn't him among the tough guys, woe!
I can bet no street don juan*) ever touched her,
Sculptured loin of hers is for the Commodore.

DZIEWCZYNA ZAGADKA
Jest dziewczyna na ulicy miasta
Frankfurta nad Menem, która tam leży przez całą dobę.
Rzeźbiarz, który wyrzeźbił ją swoim dłutem,
Chyba zrobił to tylko po to, żeby się pośmiać.
Leży z gołym tylkem, i w powietrzu macha
kamiennymi nogami, żeby się ogrzać w nocy.
Tego, który ją wyrzeźbił, po prostu nie obchodziło
O prawa człowieka jej zimnego jak kamień ciała.
Leży jak kłoda i chyba  marzy  o
Kimś, kto ożywiłby jej kończyny,
Leży naga i nic nie czuje w
nogach. Jest martwa dla przechodniów.
Zasługuje na kamennego, twardego macho,
Ale nie ma go wśród twardzieli, niestety!
Mogę się założyć, że żaden don juan z ulicy nigdy jej nie dotknął,
Jej wyrzeźbione lędźwie są dla Komandora.

Without wanting to get into the numerous metre, rhyme and general grammar
problems, maybe start here: Frankfort is in Kentucky, not on the Main".

 

Nie chcąc wdawać się w wiele problemów związanych z metryką, rymami i ogólną gramatyką, zacznę z tego, że Frankfurt jest w Kentucky, a nie nad Menem.

Absolutely no regrets Ja absolutnie  niczego nie żałuję.

 

Actually I meant Frankfurt am Main in Germany, Frankfurt am Main in Deutschland, rather than the city of the same name in Maine, USA. So many miscellaneous errors in such a short poem? Wow! I am ashamed! Right? How on earth have I dared?

Właściwie miałem na myśli Frankfurt nad Menem w Niemczech, Frankfurt am Main in Deutschland, a nie miasto o tej samej nazwie w stanie Maine w USA. Tyle różnorodnch błędów w tak krótkim wierszu? Wow! Wstyd mi! Prawda? Jakim cudem się odważyłem?

 

Hero played by Chevy Chase came to Germany from the USA to find his German roots. He was invited to join the traditional fist dance being performed  by the tall and strong men. He was told to copycat the dance steps of all other participants. But misunderstandings happen, and our hero hit his partner not for pretence as it should have been, but for real, and this misunderstanding ignited the all-out fist-fighting on the feast.

Bohater grany przez Chevy'ego Chase'a przyjechał do Niemiec z USA, by odnaleźć swoje niemieckie korzenie. Został zaproszony do udziału w ludowym tańcu na pięści wykonywanym przez wysokich i silnych mężczyzn. Poinstruowano go, aby naśladował kroki taneczne innych tancerzy. Ale nieporozumienia się zdarzają, nasz bohater uderzył swojego partnera nie dla udawania, i to nieporozumienie rozpaliło totalną walkę na pięści na festynie.
